Q: White tongue?
I have white mold that is constantly on my tongue. My parents have always complainted about my bad breath regardless of how much I brush my teeth.

Is it true that 90% of all bad breath is usually from the bacteria on your tongue rather than your teeth?

What do I do to get rid of this whiteness on my tongue? I tried mouth wash, and brushing my tongue a few times, but I don’t see any effect.

A: Well, I read that eating some fresh basil and then drinking some black unsweetened tea will hep with bad breath. As for your tongue, you can scrape it, and brush it, but don’t use mouthwash containing oxidizing or astringent agents. Stay well hydrated.

A: You’ve probably had your mouth closed for some time now. Just drink something and try and breath out your mouth. Or even brush your tongue then drink something.

Alright, I admit, toothpaste makes me puke and I know its disgusting but I only brush my teeth not that often, if I do I do. But I think the problem is because I don’t brush often so I need to. This only popped up recently too.

A: Wow. This is unusual.

First thing…. Scrape your tongue from back to front, stick your tongue under the faucet and rinse it for 20-30 seconds. If you don’t have a tongue scraper, use a spoon. (you can buy tongue scrapers at any major drug store).

If your tongue is still white, you can eliminate the possibility that your toothpaste is causing the problem, unless you have an unusually porous tongue that absorbs things that stick.

If so, ask your dentist. People that drink a lot of coffee or smoke, often have a browish tongue.

A: if you experience a bad mouth taste it may be oral Candidosys( beclometasone is a steroid drug that causes candidosis)

A: It is a “preventative” inhaler not a “rescue” inhaler…..so you should not use it as you need it. Preventative inhalers do not help with an asthma attack. They are meant to prevent daily attacks so they should be used everyday!!

To your question…. Mouthwash. You may have a bit of thrush. Preventatives are known to cause that. After you take your am and pm doses of the preventative, you are supposed to rinse your mouth out. If you do not, then you will prob end up with the thrush. The best thing for you to do now, it just to rinse your mouth out with mouthwash and hopefully over the next few days you should see some improvement.

A: I’ve burned my tongue more times than I can count and it healed pretty fast – like it hurt like the devil until suddenly I realized it didn’t hurt any more. It didn’t hurt less and less each day.

The only way I know to fix a white tongue is to brush it or use a tongue scraper. I can’t imagine what salt on your tongue would do if you use it as grit. If you gargle with salt and water, it will heal your burned place. If you try to brush with sugar, you will get sweetened water.

I don’t always use toothpaste to brush my tongue. I’ve read that the white is a buildup of food particles, bacteria and other gross things and that some people have to brush their tongues every day. I’ve been able to go without having a white tongue for weeks and then to have to brush it every time I brushed my teeth and more.

Just clean around the burned part.

A: happened to me too. the dentist says brush it, its blocked taste buds, but its more than that. oh well, i havent figured a way out. mine has to do with my digestion too. havent found a cure. ive had antifungals for thrush too, still no help.

A: It sounds like you have thrush – a very common side effect of antibiotics. Here are a few home remedies. You can drink some club soda every day (make sure it contains sodium bicarbonate) until it’s gone. You can go to a pharmacy and ask for gentian violet 1% solution. It’s a liquid you paint your tongue with (use a Q-tip) once or twice a day for about three days until the thrush is gone. Or, you can eat fresh lingonberry jam every day until it’s gone. All three of these have ingredients that kill the bacteria that makes thrush.

Q: Does the white coating on your tongue mean you have really bad breath?
Through out my wonderful life, i’ve noticed that some people tend to have extremely white tongues, as if their tongue was coated with powder sugar. A: possible yeast biuld up-THRUSH. usually with regular brushing this coating goes away however if they eat ALOT of sugar/carbs-yeast can build up in their systemand not only cause bad breathe from the yeast build up but the yeast build up in their tummy.
a really good cure for balancing out the ph and reducing the yeast build up is pure aloe vera juice-twice a day-a shot glass worth.

A: You sound like you have still got a cold!! maybe go and see your GP. you need lots of rest and lost of water to help flush the bugs out of your system. try and get some sudafed, or a nose spray for your nose. ( i hate sudafed, it keeps me awake and all i want to do is get rest!) cough lollys like strepsils are great to have when you have a sore throat too.
the white stuff on your toungue is what happens when your sick, and have a lowered immune system, have you tried brushing it off gently with your tooth brush?

A: you have yeast in your mouth not really a big deal
really cut back on the breads and pastas for while, that feeds the yeast
gargle with hydrogen peroxide 3 times daily for two weeks and make sure not to swallow any of it
