Q: Sinus Problems?
I have constant sinus problems. I get rid of one infection then a short time later it comes back. In fact, twice now I swelled up on my right side where the upper and lower jaw bone meet. At first my doctor thought it was the mumps, but after testing it was this darn infection.. My eustation tubes do not seem to drain correctly and everything puddles up inside my head. Two doctors just treat the symptoms and the third said that I might need tubes in my ears. I am 51 years old, I thought tubes were for children. Any suggestions? Any advice on where to go for help? Thanks !
A: I am 53 and had to start going to the nose, ear and throat Dr. for Ear infections, I feel your pain. I guess it is because we are young at heart
Q: Sinus problems?
I am in a bad area for allergies and sinus troubles, and I seem predisposed to sinus problems anyways almost for the past couple weeks I have had a mild sinus headache nearly everyday, it’s more annoying than actually painful and I just want it to go away altogether, other than popping Tylenol is there anything I can do to prevent them or make them go away altogether?
A: Try a sinus rinse kit, either a neti pot or squeeze bottle type. They cost $8 – $15, and are used to gently flush the sinuses with salt water. My allergist thinks it great to use, since they clean out excess mucus, dust, pollen and other things without using medications. It also helps hydrate the mucus membranes.
Since using my sinus kit I have had a real reduction in the amount of sinus pressure and pain I usually have. I cal also breathe out of both nostrils, which is a novelty. It feels weird but you get used to it.
Q: sinus problems?
Sinus problems?
I moved into a new house in Dec. last year. I also found out I was preg in jan. Every since aropund that time I have had severe sinus or allergy problems, non stop! my nose constantly is stuffed up, running, or sneezing, I get head aches every day. I couldn’t take medicine while preg. but since giving birth in Aug I;ve took sinus and allergy medicines now they seem tpo not be working well but symptoms are still bad. Any advice
A: Symptom control:
Hot towels over the nose and cheekbones
Vaporizer in lap with a towel over your head and the vaporizer. Breathe the steam through your nose as much as you can. Won’t taint your breast milk or hurt you or the baby. Also is great for your complexion! You can put the vaporizer next to your bed at night too. Be careful to keep it clean so you don’t get mold or bacteria.
Rinse your sinuses with sterile saline. Buy the big bottles from the contact lens dept. Get the sensitive eyes type to you don’t irritate your mucous membranes. Get a big towel Lay on your back and hang your head down over the edge of the bed. Plug one nostril and squirt a good amount of the solution into the other, then switch sides. Then sniff it back into the sinuses a few times as much as you can. Then sit up and let it run out into the towel. You can repeat this twice a day, but not more that 3 days.
If none of this works, see an ear, nose, and throat Dr. Sinus infections can eat up into your brain. It’s rare, but it happens.

Q: What are some natural remedies for sinus problems and bronchitis?
Some cures for the poor college kid. I keep getting sinus problems, on a regular basis I take Clariton D but now I also have a cold and I need something else. Like what vitamins and such are good for this??
(runny/stuffy nose, bad cough with green gross phlegm)
Thanks!!
A: You need to boost your immune system through eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Get some sun without sunscreen. This promotes your body’s production of Vitamin D which is essential for excellent health. Boost your intake of Vitamin C through supplements and foods. Read the book Stop Growing Older…Grow Younger for many, many effective solutions for vital, healthy living.
Get some essential oils from Young Living. Thieves oil will fight any viral or bacterial infection. Put a couple drops on your throat lymph nodes, on your chest over your bronchial tubes, on the bottoms of your feet on the lung points (bend your foot and put the oil in the hollow of the foot), in your tea or hot chocolate (use a ceramic mug), or in a pot of hot water (inhale the steam). Eucalyptus oil in that hot water will help open your sinuses and bronchial tubes.
Q: What doctor should I see for sinus problems?
Can I see an allergist that also specialises in sinus problems or should I see an ENT? I have a sinus problem/infection that is lasting over a month on antibiotics.
My GP referred me to an ENT in their clinic but I can’t get an appointment until mid April.
This started last August and I treated it some then let it go away on its own. It came back in November I treated it for a week. It went away and it came back in mid January and I have had it ever since. I have tried several different antibiotics and decongestants, etc.
A: ENT’s do treat sinus infections and allergies. They will administer allergy shots if needed and they also can perform sinus surgeries, etc.
Q: How long after an extraction will the sinus problems go away?
Had a tooth extracted yesterday. Upper molar #3. It was causing some sinus problems (lightheadedness, dizziness, etc.) The tooth had a vrf and was believed to be infected, that is why it was extracted. How long will those sinus problems last now that the tooth has been pulled?
A: 2-3 weeks. You might need antibiotics to really clear up your sinus problem, though.
Q: What can I do to stop these allergies/sinus problems?
I dont have allergies normally. Its very rare for me to get sinus problems.
But all of a sudden im getting it really bad. They come and go and its been happening for a week.
I feel like I need to scrach my throat and when I do, I sometimes have to sneeze after.
My air filter has been changed already for almost a week and I just vacuumed my apartment the other day.
What can I do to stop the throat scratching sensation and the sneezing?
A: One solution is a sinus rinse (made by Neilmed). I swear by it!!! It may be a little hardcore for someone who doesn’t have allergies all the time, but it sounds like it could help you.
It’s about $10, and I know it’s at Walgreens. You mix up a powder solution with distilled water that you heat up in a bottle and squirt up one side of your nose, then the other. It basically washes away the irritants in your sinuses.
I used to have the worst allergies, but once I got on the rinse, my symptoms have been much less.
Hope that helps.
Q: Is Phoenix is good place to visit if you have recurring sinus problems?
My wife is pregnant and is having recurring problems with sinus inflamation during the winter in Indianapois. We are planning a vacation to Phoenix but want to make sure her Sinus conditions won’t worsen as a result.
A: I lived in Phoenix (actually Mesa) for about six months and never had a problem. I have exercise-induced bronchial spasms and never had a problem there. I’m in San Antonio now, and it kills me sometimes.
Q: Has anyone had sinus problems due to a bad tooth on top and in back of mouth?
I had a bad tooth on the top back side of mouth and thought that that was the reason for my constant sinus infections every other month. So I went and had it pulled about 6 days ago.Do you think that will help my sinus problems.I hope so.
A: I’ve actually had the reverse happen to me 6 years ago. I had a sinus infection, which I ignored because I was swamped with projects at work. The infection wandered through my sinus cavity and actually infected my lower jaw bone, which caused me to have one tooth removed. Sinus infections are nothing to play with. They can cause a variety of other issues, such as hearing issues, which can impair your balance, dental issues, vision issues. Never forget that everything in your body, is interconnected.
Q: Is it normal during your period to have problems with your sinus?
I am 28 have been having my period since i was 12 or 13 i don’t know when it started but at least for as long as i can remember when i get my period i have the worst sinus problems! I am constantly having to blow my nose and i am still stuffed up..
This seems to happen with almost each and every period i have. Is this normal and what can i do about this.
A: I have the same problem!
I thought I was the only one until recently. In a conversation with my sister, I found out it happens to her, too.
I have no explanation for you (or me), just the reassurance that it’s not just you.
Q: Can a sign of pregnancy be sinus problems?
Can you have the flu without nausea, or have bad sinus problems & still possibly be pregnant? It is still too early to test ,but just wondering.
A: I have had sinus problems throughout my pregnancy so yes it’s a possible sign but don’t read into anything.
Q: What connections are there between hypothyroidism and sinus problems?
My son has been diagnosed with HSP and, as a result, kidney disease. It is believed that some autoimmune disorder is the cause. He takes prednisone and still suffers illness from coughing and sinus congestion. I have hypothyroidism and was wondering if this might be the cause for his problems as well. His thyroid tests came back on the low side of normal range which mine did as well. They treated me anyway. Please help.
Please note that I do not feel that my hypothyroidism is like a virus attacking his body. I want to know if he might have hypothyroidism. I know that my condition is not contagious.
A: I don’t think that you having hypothyroidism is the cause for your son’s Henoch-Schloin Purpura. True, both hypothyroidism and HSP have an autoimmune cause, but I don’t think that your hypothyroidism is causing your son’s sinus problems directly. You can ask your doctor to provide you with more literature and maybe do some searches yourself. Hope this helps.
Q: Can you help me with my sinus problems?
I have sinus problems. I am tired of taking meds. What can I do to help with sinus problems? Is there anyway I can get my life back? I use togo camping. Now, I can’t without having sinus problems. Please help me.
A: My husband uses this to keep from getting bronchitis, and I use to to cure sinus infections. THere are many kinds of bacteria that live in the sinuses, and this gets rid of all the bad ones!.This is the only thing that really helped me — my Dr. told me about a sinus wash that will kill bacteria.
you need
distilled water
sea salt
liquid chlorophyll and colloidal silver from the health food store.
in a glass mix 1/4 cup water with a pinch of salt and heat to body temperature.
add 5 drops each silver and chlorophyll and mix.
using a large dropper (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull into one side of the nose while laying down.
Turn the head and let it drain out the other nostril. Be sure to have paper towels handy.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are several hundred kind that can live in the sinus cavities and anti biotics don’t get rid of them all.
Do this twice a day for a week, mixing up the mixture fresh each time.
Then do it once a week for maintenance.
There is nothing in this that will hurt you, and it cured me.
I do not have to take claritin, or antibiotics anymore.
best wishes
Q: Will pouring salt water into your nostril cure sinus problems?
I’ve been having what I think to be sinus problems for the last few months. My symptoms is on going congestion, runny nose, pain inside my nostril, etc Sometimes inside my nostril gets so cold, like there’s ice lodged inside even when the rest of me isn’t cold. I’ve tried nasal sprays and it doesn work. I cant take congestion pills as I have Raynauds. So would salt water help? If not have you any solutions?
A: Salt water will definitely kill a bacterial or viral infection in the sinus cavity. Get a gallon of distilled water and a container of sea salt from the grocery store. Mix about a teaspoon of sea salt with a cup of water. Using an eyedropper, or simply drops from your clean fingertips, tilt your head back and put drops back into your nose. Do as many drops as it takes until you can taste the salt in the back of your throat. Do this two or three times a day and if your problem is bacterial or viral, you will notice a dramatic improvement within three days.
If your problem is not bacterial or viral, it may be environmental. Stop using any spray cleaning products or body care products. They emit fumes that can irritate your sinus cavity causing the same symptoms you described. Try both for three days and I’m sure your problem will go away.
I don’t use doctors. I use only holistic measures for self-care. I don’t use any conventional products because of the human health risks they contribute to. I haven’t seen a doctor in over three years – when I did end up with a lung infection I just couldn’t beat holistically. I actually feel better faster with holistic measures than when I did the doctor and drugs thing. But, then again, I also don’t use the conventional products which can cause the problems in the first place by irritating the lining of the mucous membranes of the respiratory system (sinuses and lungs).
Q: Has anyone got sinus problems when the atmospheric pressure is low?
I am sure that when its going to thunder or rain heavily i get sinus pain and problems. The pressure seems to build up and eventually i will get a sinus drip at the back of my throat. There is no severe pain but a feeling of fullness in my ears and an empty, hollow feeling inside my head. can anyone else identify with this?
