Q: Inderal?….?
I just got out of hospital because of a bad migraine and I was prescribed inderal, forogt to ask if I can take it with Asprin? I havnt been given any drugs apart from inderal since yesterday about 2pm is it safe for me to take 2 asprin now?
A: inderal is propranolol which is a beta blocker with CNS effect so it can be used for prophylaxis from migraine so if you have already headache there is no problem of taking aspirin but I’m sorry for saying that if migraine pain has started , aspirin alone won’t be enough
Q: I take Inderal for migraines. What can I take for menstrual cramps since Naproxin & ibuprofen interferes?
I take Inderal for prevention of migraines. It works, but during my period I get very bad cramps and the only thing I have found works is either large amounts of ibuprofen or naproxin (naprosin). Both of those including aspirin interfere with the absorption of the Inderal so I end up getting migraines for the week during my period. Tylenol does nothing for my cramps. I have also tried ginger capsules. Anyone have any suggestions?
A: Take the Inderal first. Then, about an hour or 2 later, take the super strength ibuprofen
Q: Taking inderal for headaches and the side effects?
I currently get about 4-5 bad headaches a month. I take Imitrex to releive them and it works great. But my doc thinks I am still getting too many headaches in a month. He prescribed me Inderal to take daily, but I am worried about taking it. I read up on the side effects. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me any side effects they have experienced and how long it took for them to go away.
A: The only side effect I had from it was trouble sleeping at first. It went away after a few weeks. Inderal did not work for me alone. I took it along with amytriptaline. The combination worked well for several years until I finally “outgrew” these migraines.
Q: Can Inderal (propanolol Hydrochloride) be used to treat both essential tremor and hypertension?
The doctor has prescribed Inderal 40mg once a day as a medication both for essential tremor and hypertension (for which I was taking another medicine). Does this mean that i will have to take this medication forever or it can be withdrawn after some time. What can be the side effects.
A: The side effects of Inderal are: bradycardia (slow heart rate), paresthesia (numbness) of hands, light-headedness, insomnia, weakness, nausea, vomiting.
The length of your treatment may depend on how you respond to the medication. For hypertension cases, blood pressure may decrease after 2 to 4 weeks after initial treatment. Constant monitoring of your BP is needed. For essential tremor, individualized dosage are done. The iniital dose is 80mg daily in divided doses. It may be increased to 120-160mg for optimal effects. If the patient does not respond with this optimal dose, further increase in dosage will produce no therapeutic effect.
Never stop the medications without your Doctor’s knowledge and consent. Don’t stop the medication abruptly and your physician should taper you off from these drugs.
Q: Has anyone ever taken 120mg of Inderal La during your whole pregnancy?
I have a genetic heart disorder for which I take 120 mg of Inderal La per day…I’m pregnant and worried about my baby. Has anyone out there taken this drug while pregnant, and how is your baby?
A: Your actually not suposed to. But if your practitioner states you need to take it due to your disorder then you will have to take it. Your heart depends on the Inderal to help the contractability, stabilize your heart rate, and control your blood pressure. I was taking Inderal La for migraine prophylaxis and I stopped taking it a couple months before I was pregnant.
Q: if your on atenolol or inderal is it safe to drink coffee?
atenolol/inderal for anxiety and lowers my bp. seems the ACE doesn’t work well for me.
A: What dosage are you taking? It’s not advisable to consume caffeine if you are taking a medication to assist with anxiety or blood pressure. In fact, Inderal/Atenolol lowers your blood pressure by decreasing your heart rate (acting on your beta receptors), thereby lowering your anxiety. Caffeine increases your hear rate and blood pressure, which in turn could increase your anxiety.
You should be able to consume decaffeinated coffee. Check with your physician to determine which food/drinks are safe for you to consume with your medication.
Good luck!
Q: Is 60 mg of Propanalol (generic for Inderal ) a day to much for the heart?
Is 60 mg of Propanalol (generic for Inderal ) a day to much for the heart?
A: If you mean taking a total of 60mg over a 24hr period no, You should be taking your pulse before you take it, and it can cause breathing problems if you have asthma or COPD
Q: How long after taking propranolol (Inderal) is it OK to drink alcohol? Do I have to wait at all?
I plan on drinking tonight, but first I will be going to a dinner which will be a social situation (difficult for me) and am wondering if it will be OK to take the propranolol before the dinner considering that I will be drinking later that night. I would probably only take 10 mg. Thanks for any advice!
A: alright, you are an idiot.
do you REALLY think drinking ALCOHOL while on a beta blocker will NOT be DANGEROUS at all????
THINK.
it doesn’t matter if you skip one pill it is still in your system.
prescription medication should NOT be going into the same body alcohol is going into.
Q: Is propranolol and inderal propranodol the same thing?
what does inderal really means?does it make it a different medication.
A: Inderal is the brand name, propranolol is the generic name – they are the same thing
Q: Inderal: How does it work for migraines?
I take Inderal (propranolol) for daily migraines. What does it do? How exactly does it treat migraines?
A: http://www.neurologyreviews.com/feb04/nr_feb04_foramen.html
Q: Is inderal pills and pencillin injection a better treatment for mild mitral stenosis?
I have Mild MS by calcification, do i definitely need a surgery in future? Will it be a replacement or repair?
A: Surgery is reserved for severe mitral stenosis with a significantly decreased ejection fraction. Depending on the type/severity you could have a mechanical valve replacement or a valve repair. I believe the inderal and penicillin are prophylactics against bacterial endocarditis, or when an infection lodges on the stenotic valve because of fluid dynamic changes.
Q: The Difference between Inderal La 80 Tablets and Propranolol?
Hi hoping someone can help me. Ive just been given Propranolol 10mg from the docs for anxiety. I used to take Half Inderal LA 80 and ive found that it is made from propranolol too. Can anyone tell me the difference between these two tablets and which is “stronger”?? Ta very much x
A: They are the exact same drug, propranolol is the generic (chemical) name. The Inderal LA is an extended release type of tablet. This does not mean it’s stronger, just that you need fewer pills per day. However, generic propranolol can also be prepared in extended release tablets too, depending on the specific prescription. Talk to the pharmacist sometime (it’s free and you just walk right up) and they can give you a detailed explaination.
Q: Can I take Inderal and Sleep Aid Simultaneously?
I am taking a relatively small dosage of Inderal (actually Propranolol) for anxiety and was wondering if I would have any negative side effects by taking Diphenhydramine HCL at night to help me fall asleep earlier in the night… What do you think?
Right now my dosage is 1 40mg tablet twice daily of Propranolol.
I don’t know how Diphenhydramine works so I didn’t know if they would effect each other if taken together?
Thanks for your help.
A: Call your local pharmacy, (any will answer your question), and ask the pharmacist.
Q: did inderal overdosage of 1200mg lead to death?
my friend took 40mg inderal 30tabs at the same time to commit suicide. is it that much effective?
A: Inderal overdosage can cause very slow heartbeat, irregular heartbeat, very low blood pressure, and congestive heart failure (greatly simplified, the heart becomes “full” and stops beating).
Inderal is an antihypertensive; it is used to lower blood pressure and decrease chest pain by decreasing cardiac output.
I am sorry to hear about your friend.
Q: Will using Propranolol(Inderal) which is a beta blocker help me to get off Valium?
I am taking valium currently and soon i am going to need to get off it,i want to do it slowly because i know how horrible the withdrawals will be,i just want to know if Propranol will help me.P.S. i heard that Propranol can cause heart complications.
A: Inderal is a beta blocker frequently used in the management of symptoms in anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and aggressive behavior. It can also be used in the treatment of various medical problems such as high blood pressure, migraines, irregular heartbeats and to prevent a second heart attack.
Your doctor should manage your recovery by watching your blood pressure and heart rate, BUT Inderal does not generally cause heart complications.
Good luck with your recovery.
