Q: sore throat?
i think its a sore throat. i have no problem talking but when i drink or eat its hard to swallow because it hurts i know people told me to gargle on salt water but i did that yesterday and i through up by accident for some reason. are there any home remedies or ways to cure a sore throat or whatever i have
im not having pains in my esophagus more like near my throat or end of my mouth.
well im pretty sure i know the exact cause of my sore throat. On sunday i had a really high fever and i slept through it and by morning my fever was down. on saturday i was fine. i was playing handball and my hands were so dirty you could see the grime and dirt and sparkly things you see on cement. well i ate Mcdonalds with those dirty hands and that probably was the cause.
ok last edit is it normal to speak easily with a sore throat without pain? i have no problems speaking and doesnt hurt. only when i swallow or drink it hurts. is it common that only one side of the throat can hurt? when i swallow only my left side hurts
A: If the warm salt water isn’t working …..if you have a fever or low grade fever (above 98.6 but below 100) you could have strep throat a bacterial infection. Do you have really bad breath even after brushing your teeth?
Best to go to a walk in clinic and get a rapid strep test….just to be sure. Ignoring a strep infection could lead to more serious infections or heart desease and/or death.
Q: Sore Throat?
My dog has a sore throat…does anyone know of anything i can give her to make it feel better…other than taking her to the vet for medicine, i’m doing that later today.
A: Give her some natural yoghurt or custard. It may help sooth her throat.
Q: Sore throat?
Does anyone know any home remedies to cure a sore throat? Or make it hurt less?
A: HOME REMEDIES FOR SORE THROAT
* Garlic is the most important remedy for sore throat. Chew some garlic pieces.
* Add lemon juice (from one lemon) some honey, to a glass of hot water. Drink this. It will give immediate relief from pain.
* Gargle with warm salt water. It is the best old age home remedy.
* Increase your liquid intake and make sure your house is humidified properly.
* Cut a lemon into 2 pieces. Take one piece and put some salt and black pepper on it, press with a knife so that salt-pepper penetrates into the lime. Put the lemon on heat to make it warm. Slowly lick this lemon squeezing it until no juice remains. Do it 2-3 times a day.
* Chives and scallions are helpful for a soar throat when simmered in water for 5 minutes. Drink as a tea.
* Figs, beets are also very effective in sore throat.
* Slippery Elm bark (Ulmus rubra) helps to soothe sore throats or cough. For sore throats, slippery elm bark can be taken as a tea. Prepare a tea by adding 1 tablespoon of dried bark to a cup. Pour 1 cup of boiling water into the cup. Steep it covered for at least 10 minutes and then strain. Have up to 3 cups of slippery elm bark tea a day.
* Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is another good sore throat remedy, however people with high blood pressure, heart, kidney or liver disease, pregnant or nursing women, or people who are taking diuretics, blood pressure drugs, should not use it.
* Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis), a herb found in Europe and North America, has been used for centuries as a sore throat home remedy. To make marshmallow root tea, add 1 tablespoon of the dried root to a cup. Add a cup (8 ounces) of boiling water, steep it covered for at least 10 minutes then strain. Drink up to 3 cups a day. Consult a doctor before taking marshmallow.
* Honeysuckle Flower, a sweet tasting and smelling herb, is one of the most commonly used sore throat remedies in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as a remedy for sore throats. To prepare honeysuckle tea, bring 1 quart of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of honeysuckle flowers (not the leaves). Steep for at least 10 minutes, covered, and then strain. Sweeten with honey or stevia to taste if desired. Drink up to 4 cups a day.
* Add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, a pinch of cayenne pepper, juice of 1/4 a lemon, and 1 teaspoon of honey to a cup. Add 1 cup of hot water and stir. Drink up to 4 cups a day.
* Gargle with aloe Vera juice two times daily.
* Combine one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, one teaspoon of cayenne pepper and three tablespoons of clover honey in a glass of warm water. Gargle as often as necessary.
* Betony is a useful astringent, which reduces inflammation. Make a tea and use as a gargle.
* Add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to 1 cup of boiling water; stir well and gargle while mixture is very warm. To this mixture you can add 4 parts Echinacea, 1 part garlic bulb, and 2 parts peppermint leaves to 1 part cayenne.
* Another remedy is to add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to 1 cup of boiling water; stir well and sip slowly.
* Prepare a tea by adding 1 or 2 teaspoons of dried chamomile blossoms to a pint of boiling water; steep and drink a cup every few hours.
* Add 30 drops of Echinacea/goldenseal combination to one cup of warm water; drink every two hours.
* Grapefruit seed extract is a powerful all-around antimicrobial product and is an excellent disinfectant and antiseptic. Add five drops to a glass of water for a soothing gargle.
* Prepare a mixture by adding ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar and ¼ cup of honey. Take one tablespoon every four hours or as needed for pain relief.
* Steep two teaspoons of dried hyssop in one cup of boiling water, covered for ten minutes; strain and drink cool for an expectorant or hot to relieve coughs, congestion, and sore throat.
* Grind one tablespoon of mustard seed and add the juice of half a lemon, one tablespoon of salt, one tablespoon of clear honey, and 1 1/4 cups of boiling water. Leave this mixture, covered, for 15 minutes and use as a gargle.
* Prepare a tea by adding 2 sprigs of coarsely chopped parsley, 3 whole spice cloves, 1 teaspoon of powdered myrrh, and 1/4 teaspoon powdered goldenseal to 1 pint of boiling water. Steep. Stir occasionally while cooling, then strain and use as a gargle or mouthwash.
* Boil some pomegranate rinds and drink as a tea. The pomegranate contains astringents
* Prepare a tea by adding five fresh crushed or dried leaves; place in a cup and fill with water cooled to just below boiling; cover and leave to infuse for five minutes; remove leaves and drink. May also be used as a gargle.
* For sore throat get a small dixie cup, pour cultured buttermilk in the cup. Slowly swish and gargle it in your mouth slowly drink a small cup of it every hour for 1 day and sore throat will be gone next day.
* Take 4 cloves of garlic – minced fine, 1 tbsp. Honey,1/8 tsp. cayenne (approx.). Mix this together, take a spoonful when needed and chew it up well before swallowing.
* Water boiled with basil leaves should be taken as a drink, and also used as a gargle to relieve a sore throat.
* Tamarind water should be used as a gargle. A powder of the dry leaves and an infusion of the bark can also be used for preparation of a gargle for treating sore throat
* Two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds should be put in a litre of cold water and allowed to simmer for half an hour over a low flame. This should then be allowed to cool to a bearable temperature, strained, and then used entirely as a gargle.
Q: SORE THROAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
i have a sore throat what makes it better ?
A: Warm honey lemon or honey lime is good and very soothing. It won’t cure your sore throat, but it will make it feel better.
The fastest way to cure a sore throat? Enough sleep – in a properly humidified room. If sore throats aren’t part of something bigger (e.g. a forthcoming infection or virus), they usually result because the person hasn’t got enough sleep. So hit the bed and rest well! (But ensure your room isn’t too dry, because – and especially – if you sleep with your mouth open, you will wake up with a throat dryer than a bone!)
Q: SoRE THROAT???
I’ve had a severe sore throat for three days. i cant remember ever having had one this bad (im not a complainer) it’s like strep throat but i also have a cough, difficulty swallowing, very slight runny/stuffy nose, and my saliva is really thick and i spit up hunks of green mucus. (gross) I have absolutely no fever (97.2 at the moment) but had bad diarrhea yesterday….what do I do?! it doesn’t seem bad enough to go to student health but im downing halls, life savers, water, and juice and my throat is still burning…..ANY advice would be appreciated…sorry I sound so complainy lol THANKS
for the record, im a virgin that doesn’t do blow jobs so u jerks can stop telling me i have an std……but thanks to the real answers!
A: Go to the nurse. That’s what she’s there for. You probably have strep throat which you can only treat with antibiotics.
Q: What can i do about sore throat after surgery?
I had surgery two days ago and i have a sore throat thats getting worse. I know the sore throat is caused by the endotracheal tube they insert in your mouth, but this caused some really bad sores in the back of my mouth/throat that almost look like canker sores. It hurts really bad and i think its getting worse over the past days. What can i do to make my sore throat better?
A: You could use throat numbing spray
Q: How does one handle sore throat at home before seeing a doctor?
I have sore throat which is really painful with headache but I have managed to control the headache with motrin but the sore throat is still a problem. Are there some things one can do to sooth and control the pain of sore throat?
A: Gargle with very, very salty warm water
Chloraseptic sprays or drops actually contain an ingredient similar to the novacaine that your dentist uses to numb your teeth for dental work. It numbs on contact and is very effective.
Throat coat tea – available in the tea section, or if your pharmacy has a homeopthic section, you could find ti there. It’s a “Natural Remedies” tea. Has a strong licorice flavor. My kids love it. Just don’t take it after the Chloraseptic or you will be rinsing away all the numbing stuff.
If you are running a fever, consider going to have a culture done to check for strep. If it is strep, antibiotics will take care of the pain quickly!
Hope you are feeling better!
Q: Can you get a sore throat by going to bed with wet hair? How?
My mom has always told me I’ll get a sore throat if I go to bed with wet hair. If I’ve gone to bed with wet hair I do get a sore throat, but it only last a little bit into the morning? There are other things that could have caused my sore throat etc. So basically I’m asking, have scientics proven that if you go bed with wet hair you will/might get a sore throat and how do you get one? Thanks!
A: YOU MIGHT GET A COLD. I got a cold after sleeping with wet hair. I have NO idea why.
My mom also used to tell me this. Never really took it seriously
Q: What causes a sore throat a no other symptoms?
I am 48 years old and have had a sore throat for a month with very little other symptoms. My glands are a little swollen and my throat is barely red. I have not had any fatigue, weight loss, or anything else major. The pain from the sore throat is better in the day, then gets worse at night. What could be the cause of this chronic sore throat?
I don’t have red tonsils either. Just a sore throat.
A: It sounds like post-nasal drip, which is when excess mucous made by the sinuses drips in the back of the throat and makes it raw. It is often accompanied by cold symptoms, but not always. It can be caused by mild allergies.

Q: How do you get a sore throat without screaming?
I want a sore throat without screaming or gargling sharp objects. Is there any way to get a sore throat fast? I have a solo in chorus and I have no option to do it or not, the only way I’m excused is if I’m sick or have a sore throat and I don’t want to miss school, just chorus.
How do I get a sore throat, to make coughing sound like it isn’t fake?
A: That is truly an excellent question! Unfortunately, I am not entirely sure of the answer, so therefore I wish you the very best of luck in finding it! Hopefully, there will be someone who knows this! Once again, good luck!
Q: How long does it take to get over a sore throat?
My throat has been sore since last night. How long does it take to get over a sore throat? Keep in mind that I feel PERFECT except for that my throat is sore- I have no fever, head ache, etc. There’s swelling / redness / puss on the sides of my throat.
I’ve been gargling with salt water, eating ice pops, and ate some soup. I’m also taking it real easy- no exercising, working, etc. If I continue to take care of myself this way, and the only thing wrong is that my throat is sore (no headache, fever, not tired or achy, etc.), how long should it take for me to be better? After being better, when can I return to exercising and going out?
Also, what else can I do to speed my recovery?
Please help! I took my vacation this week and my sister and I’s birthdays are also this week as well- I’d hate to be sick during my vacation!
A: anywhere from 3 to 7 days .
Q: How can you tell the difference between a sore throat from the common cold and a sore throat from strep throat?
I have had a sore throat for 2 days now. I got strep a lot as a kid,but haven’t for a few years now. How can you tell if your sore throat is just from having a cold or from having strep throat? Thanks!
A: Ugh, I’m a strep throat pro. 2 cases in 3 weeks, NOT FUN! The deal with strep is it can be either viral or bacterial. How do you know the diff? Viral typically comes along with cold symptoms, sneezing, coughing, runny nose, congestion, etc. Viruses do NOT need antibiotics and will run their course in a week or so. Every time I’ve had strep throat i have NO cold symptoms and it comes on very suddenly. As in a matter of hours, i have a pretty painful sore throat. If you have a mini light, you can check out the back of your throat. Are your tonsils swollen? Do you see yellow/white spots on the back of the throat? If so, it’s likely strep bacteria. Also, you tend to have higher fevers when it’s bacterial, above 101.
Q: How to treat a sore throat with home remedies?
I just woke up with a sore throat today, and don’t really have the money to go to a doctor just for it. Is there any home remedies out there to treat my sore throat?
A: ricola herbal throat drops
make some tea and use honey to sweeten it.
Use lemon for added flavor plus its good for your throat
the honey and the lemon are both soothing to the throat.
drink plenty of fluids
also gargling helps.
gargle with salt water every morning evening and night.
Q: How long does a sore throat last when you have mono?
I’ve had my sore throat for 5 days now, and I’m in extreme pain. My doctor put me on pain medication, but it still hurts a lot. I was just officially diagnosed with mono yesterday. How much longer will my sore throat last for?
A: REST, rest, rest. I wish you well-being and a speedy recovery.
I hope you get silk eye masks, new slippers, and pj’s.
you poor dear!!! lot’s of tea, and get well cards on the way!!!
drink lot’s of fluids, and take your meds, and lay in bed.
make yourself comfy.
I had it for 3-5 months, some people youngesters only lasts 3-5 weeks.
I had a rash on my chest and a real bad, bad cause and had to take time off from work, and go back to work 1/2 time for long time in 1993………..that really was a sucky year.
i just got people to get me nice things for comfort, like hard candy or throat drops, stuffed animals, too tired to read, so i asked for scented candles, or eye masks, bubble bath things.
Put yourself on EXTREME SELF CARE MODE.
this one,, you cannot rush!
Ask for a new comforter, new pj’s, and a new robe and slippers, believe me, the more comfy you feel and nicer you look, you will get better faster.
as for the throat, cepical spray, and throat drops, drink throat coat tea, and have someone baby you!!!!!!
get some vicks and ask for back rubs, really let them take care of you, YOU aren’t fakin’ this, get the best care you can……..and let people bring you flowers, and send you cards, and milk it up!!!!
***if you have a food craving, i had no desire for food, be sure you eat lot’s of protein, and keep a gallon of bottled water by your bed, and drink lot’s of water.
if you are an adult, then hire a housekeeper to come in once a week and take care of the floors and it’s just nice to have someone there to check in on you.
if a family member offers to come stay with you…………let them, and have a list of things you want them to do!!!!!
if you are gonna be sick, and laid up ……..may as well work it!!
Q: What does a sore throat due to quitting smoking feel like?
I have stopped smoking going on my 5th day. For the last 3 days I have had a terrible sore throat. I read that a sore throat is a sympton of quitting, but how bad is it? My throat hurts so bad at times, I can not swallow. I just want to make sure it is part of the Quitters Flu, and not something I need to go to the DR for. (My throat is also very swollen and red).
A: Hi
I quit smoking with Chantix & am on day 15. I have got the sore throat & phlegmy type sinus problem, but my doctor did tell me to expect this and it would slowly go away. My daughter quit smoking 1 1/2 months ago and has the same thing. But, we didn’t have the same swollen, red throat you are describing so it’s probably time for a trip to the doctors.
Good Luck
